What is SportsPottery®?
Literally, SportsPottery® is the registered trademarked name of a collection of handpainted ceramic pieces made for active people. But we think it represents more---Like the everyday triumphs of the non-professional athlete. Be it age grouping at a local 5K race, making your first (golf) eagle or commemorating a vacation with tennis buddies...just to give you a few ideas. SportsPottery® is not for those who are #1 in the world--or have a billion dollar shoe company deal....though we've made stuff for them, too. It's really for you, the individual who strives day in and day out towards your own personal best...and takes great joy in your athletic performance and the inner rewards that come with doing your best. That's why we say, "You be a champ. We'll make your trophy."

How is SportsPottery® made?
Greenware is handpainted according to your color, copy and icon specifications, then fired at 1400 degrees for 8 hours and cooled for another 6. It's then, glazed (the stuff that makes it shiny and able to eat off of) and refired for another 6 hours with more cooling time. Finally, each piece is dressed with a coordinating ribbon and put in a gift box with a gift card with our compliments. If you add up the painting, glazing, firing and packing time, roughly 28 hours goes into making each piece.

Can you put an official team name or mascot on my SportsPottery®?
Just as we've trademarked SportsPottery® to protect the ownership of the name and concept we created--official sports teams, leagues, races, tournaments, mascots and logos own the rights to their own intellectual property as well. This means, we must be officially licensed to paint their words or pictures on SportsPottery®. There are a few ways around this, however:

How do I "get around" the rule of not being able to use officially licensed words and pictures?
1) In the case of a marathon in Hawaii, we'll put "I Ran Hawaii" with a "26.2" and a runner and wala'...your own marathon mug!
2) In the case of the name of a ballet recital, e-mail us a note of permission from the owner of the dance studio.
3) We will be licensed by certain organizations, such as the Boston Athletic Association. The SportsPottery®, such as in the case of the Boston Marathon, will be pre-designed and available for name/time customization right off our webpage.


Does SportsPottery® make group awards?
Yes. All the time. For golf & tennis tournaments, road races, you name it. This falls into the "customization" category. Please e-mail sharna@sportspottery.com with your inquiries. Any information including budget, number of awards, event date and needed copy/art is helpful for us in getting you a price quote.

Is SportsPottery® usable?
Definitely. Everything can go in the dishwasher...talk about an easy way to dust a trophy! Mugs, plates, goblets are all microwave and oven-safe as well. The glaze is all lead-free making it safe to use with foods and beverages.

How long will my custom SportsPottery® order take?
Depending on the volume of orders in studio, your piece will arrive within 1-3 weeks of your order. (Certain times of the year are busier for gift giving.) You'll receive an e-mail after your order to let you know the estimated time frame.

How are orders shipped?
We use UPS Ground. We are located in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. Most shipments to the south, northeast and midwest take no more than 2-3 days. To the west, they usually run 4 days. Special arrangements can be made for overnight shipping.

What about rush orders?
Rush orders are handled on a case by case basis depending on the volume of work in studio. Please contact studio@sportspottery.com with inquiries as to if we can make your "rush" gift giving deadline and what the extra production/shipping charge will be.

Do you have a product guarantee?
In the history of making SportsPottery® (9+ years) we've had but a handful of mistakes. However, we are human and IF by chance we typo any word or use the incorrect color (going by your on-line order), we will refund your money completely or do a redo at no extra charge, plus the cost of you shipping the piece back to us. It's your choice. It's all part of our goal to make friends--not sales---in the SportsPottery® biz.

Is gift wrapping extra?
All SportsPottery® pieces arrive finished with a ribbon and gift tag in a SportsPottery® box. Additional gift wrapping is available for an even splashier presentation.

What if I change my mind after I order?
If the order has not been started, you will receive a full refund (-) 5.00 processing charge. You will need to email your credit card number and exp. date or phone it into studio voice mail (404) 663-8450. Simple changes to your order will not be charged if received before the work begins. Email changes to studio@sportspottery.com immediately.
